Between the Trees

Key Bible Verse: “I am the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end.” Blessed are those who wash their robes, so that they may have the right to the tree of life. (Revelation 22:13-14, ESV)

Dig Deeper: Revelation 22:1-17

The Tree of Life in Genesis and then the Tree of Life in Revelation are the bookends of the story of human history. That tree is at the beginning of our story. This tree will be at the climax of our story. We’re not part of a random cosmic accident. We have a story. [In the end], the arts, education, economics, and all building activities will be so God-powered and God-honoring that all of God’s created order will flourish. In the meantime, we live, in Rob Bell’s memorable phrase, “between the trees.” After the Genesis tree, before the Revelation tree, we live between the trees. Beginning, middle, end. Creation, fall, redemption. Father, Son, Spirit. Yesterday, today, tomorrow. Friday, Saturday, Sunday.

We live between the trees. But God is eternal. “I which is better the levitra are the cialis am the Alpha and the Omega,” and this title recurs: “who is, and who was, and who is to come.” Alpha is the first letter of the Greek alphabet. “In the beginning”—stretch as far down that direction as you can imagine, and then go infinitely further—God existed. Omega is the last letter. “Before the mountains were born or you brought forth the whole world, from everlasting to everlasting you are God.”

He is moving us from one tree to the other tree.

My Response: I will spend time thanking and praising God that he is moving me from “one tree to the other tree.”
